Welcome to the South Point High School Band Web site. South Point High School is located in South Point, Ohio, the most southern point in the state. The band is under the direction of Mr. Brent Hunt.  The Color Guard Advisor is Mrs. Ann Barnett.  South Point High School has a student population of approximately 450 students with about 50 students involved in the marching band program.

The band is active throughout the year. In the fall, South Point's Marching Band, the Band of Gold, performs at all 10 football games and in various parades. They also compete in 4 or 5 competitions each year.  The South Point Marching Band has competed in the OMEA State Marching Band Finals in 1988, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, & 2007. It also had the privilege to perform at Walt Disney World in Florida in 2000. Each May, the band also makes an annual appearance in the oldest, continuous-running Memorial Day parade in the nation, the Ironton Memorial Day Parade.

Every year after the marching season ends, the band prepares for concert band season. The South Point Band presents an annual Christmas Concert each year in December. During the 2nd Semester Concert Band class, band members are represented well in many honor groups, such as All-County & All-District Band. Many members also choose to participate in the OMEA District 17 Solo & Ensemble Contest, as well as the SCORES contest at Marshall University. They also present an annual Spring Concert each May. Also during the winter, the pep band performs at all of the home boys basketball games.

The most recent directors for the South Point Band have been L.B. Oliver (?? - 1994), A. Shawn Dunn (1994 - 2001), Keith Meadows (2001 - 2002), Lisa Ashworth (2002 - 2007), and Brent Hunt (2007 - present).

The Web site

This is the home of the South Point Band on the web, although because this Web site isn't hosted through the school, it is considered the "unofficial" band Web site.  I have maintained the band's Web site since the summer of 2001, following Band Director Shawn Dunn's departure, which left the need for someone to maintain a site.  Funding for the cost of the Web site is provided by the Band Boosters.  We utilize Bravenet Web Services.  However, I continue to own the domain name, southpointband.com.
