May 05, 2008 New Concert, Old Feeling I believe I can safely say that most of those in attendance at Monday evening's spring concert would agree that it sounded quite impressive. I was a member of the band program from 1995-2002, and Monday's concert took me back to those times and those concerts. I also overheard a music teacher in the district saying it was one of the best concerts, musically, she'd heard from the program in several years. Mr. Hunt even acknowledged that in the eight years he's been teaching music, this current group of sixth graders progressed farther in their music books than any other group he's had. He expressed Monday evening that he has no doubt that we can be not only the best band in the county, but one of the best in the state. This is only my opinion, but I am impressed and excited with what Mr. Hunt has done for this program in just a single year. He has pulled this program up from an unfortunate and messy situation, and already made them successful. With these current, talented middle school members, I see a bright future for the South Point Band program.

March 12, 2008 Monthly Newsletters Beginning in April, the monthly newsletters will no longer be mailed. Mr. Hunt will be distributing them in band class, so be sure to ask your child about them! My goal is to have them distributed around the first of each month. For example, I hope to have the next newsletter sent home between March 27 and April 02. The same time period should be typical for future newsletters.
